‘Free Roam’ draws on the affinities between the work of André Santos Martins and Luzia Cruz to present at Kunstraum Botschaft a set of questions about the nature of personal space and the complexities of a digital society facing a crisis of resources. 

Limitations of a material nature are usually one of the most overlooked points in speculative contexts. Still, comparison with a real scenario makes visible the complex layers of material and existential considerations entangled in the affinity between the real and the virtual. A timeless world that neglects the fragility of existential resources - water, energy, raw materials, food - as is advocated in cryonics or the digital world, for instance, calls into question the veracity of its very promises.

Through a series of installations and video works, ‘Free Roam’ examines the impact of technology on intimacy, problematizing the intersection between the realms of private and public, virtual and material.
